Diwali is coming near. For me Diwali is all about bursting crackers and eating sweets. So i thought why don't I start of by preparing Gulab Jamun one of my favorite desserts.
Do try this sweet dish, you will love them. And if you are a person who does not have a sweet tooth, you can prepare for your near and dear ones. I am sure that you will not only enjoy eating them but will also enjoy preparing them.
Ingredients:
Khoya/Mava - 1 cup
All Purpose flour/Maida - 1/2 cup
Baking Soda - a pinch
Milk - 1 tsp
Ghee/Oil - to fry
Cold Water
For Sugar Syrup:
Sugar - 1 and half cup
Water - 2 cups
Cardamom - 5 to 6
Method:
1. Sieve the Maida and baking soda and mix with khoya slowly.
2. Add few drops of milk for mixing the dough. Mix in such a manner that you form a smooth and soft dough.
3. Fill a vessel with cold water and immerse the dough into it for about 20 minutes,
4. Strain the excess water from the dough and mix the dough again.you will find the dough to be little sticky so you can apply ghee in your hand and mix the dough.
5. Start making small balls (half the size of a table tennis ball). you will get about 30 balls.
6. Fry the balls in oil or ghee.
For the Sugar Syrup:
Add sugar into the water along with the cardamom. once the water comes to boil turn off the stove.
Add the fried balls into the sugar syrup.
The yummy Gulab Jamuns are ready to be served. You can garnish the Gulab Jamuns with Almond/Cashew nuts/Pistachio
