Beef Ularthiyathu recipe |
I made beef ularthiyathu. This is a spicy and yummy dish and blends very well with rice, morru kachiyathu and pappadam.
I could see my hubbys eye twinkle when he saw the lunch spread. The same pair of eyes that i later saw happily snoozing on top of his books post lunch.

Here is the recipe of beef ularthiyathu.
Ingredients:
Beef - 1/2 kg
Onion - 2 big
Garlic - 10 to 12 nos
Thinly sliced Ginger - 1 tbsp
Red Chilly powder - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 2 tsp (can vary acording to your spice level)
Coriander powder - 2 to 3 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Garam masala/meat masala- 11/2 tsp
Lemon - 1 nos
Curry Leaves - 2 sprig
Coconut pieces - 1 cup
Coconut Oil
salt to taste
Method:
1. clean and wash the beef properly. Mix 1/2 tsp chilly powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and 1tsp coriander powder and keep the beef to marinate for about 20 minutes.
2. In a cooker pressure cook the beef for about 20 minutes (the time may vary according to the type of beef).
3. In a heavy bottomed pan fry the coconut pieces keep them separately in a bowl. in the same oil pour some more oil and add ginger and garlic. sought them for about a minute.
4. Add onions and curry leaves and sought them till the onion turn into golden brown in color.
5. Add 1/2 tsp of red chilly powder, 2 tsp of coriander powder, 1 tsp of garam masala/meat masala and pepper powder. sought them for about a minute and half.
6. Add 2 tbsp of water and salt and when it starts boiling add the cooked beef.
7. Let the beef cook in low flame for about 10 minutes.
8. After 10 minutes add add the coconut pieces and lemon juice. Mix them well.
9. After about a minute turn of the stove.
Beef Ularthiyathu is ready to be served. you can have this dish with chapati, parotta and rice.
