Ingredients

All
purpose flour (maida) 2
cups
Yeast 1 ½ tsp
Sugar 1 ½ tsp
Milk/water ½ cup
Yogurt 2 tb sp
Sesameseeds (white) 1 tsp
Butter 2
tb sp
Salt ½ tsp
Method
Take yeast in a small bowl, add warm water
and sugar. Mix well, cover and keep aside for 5 minutes.
Sieve flour and salt four times and keep
it in a large pan. Make space in the middle and put the yeast along with yogurt
and one tbsp butter and mix well with a spatula. Knead with hand well for 5
minutes. Form a ball, cover with a damp towel and keep aside for 3-4 hours.
Remove the towel, the dough will be double
the original size. Beat the dough with
your fist a few times, knead again and
divide it in to four and leave for 5
minutes. Take each ball and roll it to tear
shape.
Take one tb sp butter, add sesame seeds and
mix well.
Heat a tawa till very hot, put the nan and
fry for one minute. When it starts to
brown, turn to the other side. Apply the butter sesame mix on to the cooked
side with a brush or the back of a spoon. Put the Nan
directly on the fire for one second, turn to the other side. Put it back on the
tawa and apply a little more butter. Repeat the same with the other nans.
You can grill the nan if you prefer. Pre heat
the oven to 200 C, Butter the grill and one side of the nan, keep the buttered
side on the grill and grill for 2 minutes. When it turns light brown turn the
side and keep for one minute, Take out and butter both sides.
Soft and tasty nans are ready. Serve hot with Paneer in cashewnut masala.
