Peshawari Chicken

To Marinate




  • Chicken : 1 kg, Medium size cut
  • Tomato paste : 3 tbsp
  • Ginger Garlic paste : 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric : 1/4 tsp
  • Green Chillies : 2 finely chopped
  • Chilli Powder : 1 1/2 tsp
  • Brown Onion : 1/2 cup
  • Few mixed Whole spices
  • Curd : 1/2 cup beaten
  • Curry leaves : 1 sprig
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil

  • Garlic crushed : 1 tsp
  • Red Chilli : 6 whole
  • Fenugreek seed : 1/4 cup
  • Mustard seed : 1/2 tsp
  • Oil : 1/4 cup

  • Peshawari ChickenMethod of Preparation :

    1. Make a paste using tomato puree, ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, finely chopped green chilli, turmeric and salt.
    2. Marinate the chicken with the above paste.
    3. Heat little oil and add chopped brown onion. Heat till the onion turns transparent. Add mixed whole spices and saute for 5 minutes.
    4. Add the marinated chicken, add 3 cups of water and cook in slow flame until chicken is tender. Add water if required.
    5. Add the spices and cook for another 10 minutes
    6. Garnish the chicken with beaten curd.
